In this article, we will briefly present the types of paper bags, describe what they are most often chosen for, as well as what variants they come in and what printing can be done on them.
Paper bags with twist handle
These bag models are very popular among customers due to their wide range of applications, affordable price and a large number of available models and color variants. These models of paper bags have a twisted handle made of paper, which is glued inside the bag. The load capacity of bags with twist handles is estimated at 5-7 kilograms, depending on the size of the bag. The availability of sizes is very wide, from very tiny bags in size 18x8x22.5 cm, which can hold small gifts, cosmetics or jewelry, to very large bags for coats, suits, briefcases, leather goods, etc. Paper bags with twisted handles are also available in the format of a popular alcoholic beverage, perfect for packaging a gift in the form of alcohol. They are often used in colonial stores, gift shops, jewelry stores, and drugstores.
Paper bags with flat handle
This is a budget version of a paper bag, especially recommended to customers who need to package their product, do not want to use cheap, non-ecological and unsightly plastic bags, but are looking for an economical product. Paper bags with flat handles are especially recommended for restaurants, catering and other food industries because they are certified allowing the product to come into contact with food. For this reason, they are also called catering bags and under this name they can be found in stores and wholesalers. Paper bags with flat handles are made of kraft paper, have a load capacity of approximately 3-5 kg, and are available in white or eco-brown as standard. It is possible to mark the bag with the customer's logo.
Exclusive laminated and prestigious paper bags
Paper bags are also available in an exclusive version. This type of bags includes laminated bags and prestigious bags. Laminated bags are made of coated paper, which was printed during the production process and then covered with laminate. 170g coated paper is used to produce laminated bags, but thicker paper can also be used. This definitely affects the appearance and durability of the bag. Laminated bags have synthetic or cotton string handles, but a ribbon can also serve as handles. The laminate used to cover laminated bags can be matte or glossy.
Prestige paper bags are also characterized by an exclusive appearance, they are made of striped kraft paper, they have string handles, but they are not laminated. They are definitely more ecological than laminated bags because they do not contain plastic. However, depriving the laminate does not make the bags lose their elegance and exclusivity - on the contrary, the raw look makes them timeless. These bags are very eagerly chosen by boutiques, exclusive clothing sellers, drugstores, jewelry stores and everyone who wants to emphasize the luxurious nature of the product with its packaging.
Which print should I choose on paper bags? 
When deciding to print on paper bags, we have several options to choose from. The choice of method depends on several factors - the type of print we want to make, the quantity we are interested in and the type of bag. We can print flexo printing on paper bags - this type is used for bags with flat handles and bags with twisted handles. Flexo printing can be done for larger quantities, manufacturers usually set logistic minimums of around 5,000 pcs. With this technique, we can print 100% of the bag's surface because the printing is done before folding the bag, on a roll of paper. Then the paper is cut and the bag is assembled and the handles are glued. Flexo printing can be used to print in full color with tonal transitions, the so-called CMYK, but also 1-2 Pantone colors.
Offset printing is performed on prestige and laminated bags. Also as in the case of bags with twisted and flat handles, it is done before folding the bag. The minimum quantity for offset-printed bags is 100 pieces. This method allows for printing in CMYK and PANTONE colors.
It is possible to screen print on ready-made bags with flat, twisted and prestigious handles. The logistic minimum is 50 pieces. Screen prints can only be made in Pantone colors, without tonal transitions or shading. In the case of this type of printing, it is necessary to make printing matrices, there is also a limit to the number of colors, usually a maximum of 5 colors can be printed.
